Australia Part 1: Sydney and Lizard Island

After finishing my CCR training in the USVI, I hopped on a plane to Australia. My adventures in this part of the world started in Sydney where I spent some time with Jayne Jenkins.
Upon receiving a call about the excellent conditions at Nelson Bay, we packed up our gear and headed up the coast. At Nelson Bay we confirmed that the conditions were indeed excellent and we stayed a few days longer to enjoy the different diving Nelson Bay has to offer.

Once back in Sydney, I then flew up to Cairns where I boarded my flight to Lizard Island. I spent about three weeks on this lovely island working as a volunteer for a graduate student from James Cook University who is studying the effects of climate change on the schooling behavior of a species of damselfish, Chromis viridis.

Not a bad view, eh?
After three weeks of capturing these fish on beautiful shallow patch reefs and ensuring they stayed alive in the elaborate aquarium system, my time at Lizard Island Research Station came to an end.
