I can’t believe it has already been almost three months since I was notified about being the scholarship recipient.. and so begins a year of adventure! I hope you will enjoy my blog posts throughout the year. 

Earlier this month I had an exciting weekend in New York City where I met some amazing people that are a part of and support the Our Wold-Underwater Scholarship Society. Right off the bat I got a taste of the wonderful family I am now a part of – scholarship alumni seemed just as excited as I was and were quick to provide some invaluable advice about navigating this coming year.

It was great to finally meet my Scholar cohort: Elena, the 2014 European Scholar, and Courtney, the 2014 Australasian Scholar, two incredible and impressive ladies! By the way, I think you should follow their blogs too (European blog, Australasian blog).

Included among the many highlights of the whirlwind weekend were listening to the scholars’ presentations at the Explorers Club (where I also got an Explorers Club membership, some sweet Fourth Element and Light and Motion gear, and a DAN pack to keep me safe during my travels), and getting fitted for and receiving (I’m still processing this) a Rolex Submariner dive watch at the New York Yacht Club!
